- As far as I'm aware it is impossible to read Amiga disks on a PC short of
- implementing extra additional hardware. Previous articles I've read on
- amiga newsgroups have led me to believe this to be the case.
-
- However, some PC tecchies at work keep arguing with me saying that the
- drive electronics are in principle the same and that given correctly
- written software there would be no trouble reading or formatting an Amiga
- disk on a PC. I argue that the problem is with the PC floppy controller
- not the drive, but usually to no avail....they simply dismiss me as wrong.
-
- I am sure I'm right, but I want a more technical explanation by somebody
- that knows a bit more about it than me. I would be very grateful if
- someone could explain in great detail why it is impossible with just
- software to read or format Amiga disks on a PC. I do not get this
- newsgroup anymore and would be very grateful if someone could e-mail me a
- relevent relpy so that I can shove it under their noses at work. :)
-
- Many thanks.
